I heard that it's good to take coconut juice in last trimester once a week. Is that true? If that's true, is the benefit of local coconut same with Thailand one?

Thanks for your question! Our Healthcare Expert will be answering some questions every week but in the meantime, here's a little tip from our Careline : Coconut water is especially rich in nutrients. Consider taking the juice straight from a young coconut as the packaged ones have added sweeteners, preservatives, or flavorings. Here are some of the benefits of having coconut water during pregnancy: * Coconut water is fat free and has zero cholesterol. It also increases the level of the HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) in the body during pregnancy. * During pregnancy, a woman may experience exhaustion and dehydration, which can be replenished by coconut water which is a rich source of electrolytes. *Coconut water strengthens immune system as it has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. * Constipation, sluggish digestion and heartburn are common problems during pregnancy and can be helped to some extent by drinking coconut water as it also improves intestinal function and digestive health. * A lot of women suffer from urinary tract infection during pregnancy, which can be prevented by consuming coconut water. The primary difference in coconut water from different countries is the taste. Thai coconut water is slightly sweet with a stronger coconut flavor. No matter where the coconut water comes from though, it comes with heaps of natural nutrients vital during pregnancy.

Coconut water is rich in water and electrolytes, and acts as a natural source of oral rehydration solution. It may be useful for patients with constipation, diarrhea and heartburn. I am not aware if any difference in the different types of coconut juice.
