Dear Mummy, Thanks for your question! Our Healthcare Expert will be answering some questions every week but in the meantime, here's a little tip from our Careline! To train your little one on tooth brushing requires a lot of patience and practice especially when your child is not so co-operating yet. Some parents may share with you their tactics, but yet again, different children respond to different tactics, so you may need to experiment. Try some of these tips:- 1. Consider an electric toothbrush with cartoon design to entice your child. 2. Let her brush the teeth of the toys before she brushes her teeth. 3. Look for fun ways to engage your child in the activity 4. Have a brushing session together with your child so she could imitate how you do the brushing correctly and also to reinforce the habit daily. 5. Start without toothpaste. Introduced it only when she reaches 2 years when she learns to spit out the fluoride. Get her the flavour she likes. If all these fails, don't force it. As you've already discovered, you can't force the toothbrush into your child's mouth without hurting or at least scaring her. You may continue to try using the following method when she is more comfortable doing it together with you.
